This weekend was Lovebox festival and I was asked by Schuh to custom design and illustrate four pairs of wellies for Snoop Dogg and Cypress Hill, some of the festival headliners  – a pair to go on display and a pair to be given to the artists. With a catch – that, obviously, swearing and drug references were banned. Which is fair enough! And also WHAT THE SHIT. So I spent a long weekend researching the artists and drawing on eight welly boots with acrylic pens like a mad freak. Pretty pleased with the outcome and quite a fun medium. Other welly boot commissions now accepted.

KPMG Spring launch

This Thursday KPMG launched their corporate responsibility initiative ‘Spring’ with installations and events in their Canary Wharf office. I was asked to create lettering and illustrations on a 7m wall over the course of two days, plus some book jackets for the launch – here are some photos of the painting and the finished thing. You can read about Spring here.

Last week I was working in-house on some wall art for the launch of a thing that I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about, really. So I’ll wait for the launch date – but here are some photos of the process. Words! Pictures! A lot of the colour blue!

The Blue Moon

Some blackboards I did recently for the Blue Moon on Norfolk Street – pies! Films! Quizzes! You can and you should like them on Facebook here.

some little watercolour buildings

I did a competition a while ago to paint a mural at GoThinkBig’s headquarters in London. I didn’t win it, but I’m pretty pleased with my design. Green and orange really don’t go with each other and I’m cool with that.

afternoon tea

A little hand-painted gouache invite for me mam’s birthday.

drawing stuff with kids

Super-Octo and his motley crew of bizarre and entirely anatomically incorrect fish.

Picturehouse boards

Here are some boards what I drew for the cinema what I work at.

type experiments

Recently I came across some 1940s music & hymn sheets in an antique shop and I’ve been using their beautiful typefaces as inspiration. It was a good chance to use my brush pen, and gouache and a 2/0 brush, after working solely in rollerball/paper/digital for months and months!

The end is nigh …

Prepping for my final assessment and the University of Plymouth Degree Show. The work I displayed consisted of my major project, the exploration of people’s book collections, that has been driving me wild with passion/mad with frustration (delete as appropriate) for the last five months. The private view was a great night with a huge turnout and the show is still up for the next week, so if you’re in Plymouth you know where to go …

Books, books and more books

Christ, it’s been a while hasn’t it. This book project has been my life for the last few months so I thought it was only appropriate to show a little of what I’ve been doing. Also – this weekend is the Mother’s Day Made-it Market which I’m highly excited about, I’ve been producing some screenprints and cards as per usual, with a sentimental Mother’s Day feel … n’awwww.

Whale Festival

Big collaborative window painting for University of Plymouth’s Dominion festival – concerning whales and contemporary music, naturally. I was responsible for the text … and a few distorted whales.
